About Past Contests

The Idea
My name is Giancarlo Massaro and I am the founder of Any Lucky Day. My story begins in December 2008, when the idea for Any Lucky Day was born.

One day in late December 2008, I was up late watching TV and thinking of ideas for a new website, when an infomercial came on. I thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if people could test these products out before they had to purchase them to see if they really work? That's when the idea dawned on me, and with a little brainstorming, Any Lucky Day was born.

The Beginning
My initial goal was to have companies donate their products to Any Lucky Day so they could be given away in contests. The plan was to hold a new contest every single day sponsored by a different company. In order to make money, I wanted to create a subscription system, so that users had to be a paying member to enter the contests. After testing out this system and only receiving only a few paying members, I decided to scrap this idea. The idea was new and the website was new, so I decided to make everything free in order to draw in the largest possible audience. Within weeks of our January 1st, 2009 launch, I was astonished at how many companies were interested in donating products, and I soon realized that Any Lucky Day was becoming a large promotion source for these companies, and it was almost as if I had become their marketing spokesperson, but behind the mask of the website. Unfortunately, the response I was receiving from companies was not enough for me to hold a new contest every single day.

My First Year
2009 has come and gone, and what an astonishing first year it was. I helped promote over 110 different companies using social media, and I gave away a total of over $13,000 in products/services. I learned many things in 2009 working with these companies, and one of the most common responses I received was, "when can we sponsor another contest?" Now that I have created a fun, creative, and competitive marketing atmosphere for companies and consumers, I am taking the next step in 2010 and meeting my initial goal, which was to hold a new contest every single day.

2010
And so it has begun. In 2010 I am taking the next step by promoting companies and running contests as my full-time job. I am selling every day of the year to companies who want to have their product or service featured in front of a large audience. I will be using a calendar based pricing model, where January 1st is $1.50, and each day rises by $1.50. This cost structure leaves no room for surprises and rewards early commitment.

What is different in 2010 compared to 2009?
In 2009 I used Twitter, Facebook and contest directories to promote companies. In 2010, I will be stepping out from behind the mask of the website, and start by promoting my sponsors utilizing a variety of social media websites.
